Photo Dates: 1/1/2013 (left) 10/2011 (right)

Video Date: 5/2011

Date Calved: 4/15/2009

Sire: Strawberry Texas

Dam: O-Mini Rosemary

Frame Score: 00

Smokehaus thinks that he is BIG bull. He struts around bellowing at all the girls, pawing the dirt and making a big fuss. Even though he tries his best to look like the toughest bull in the county, he is "dog tame." Smokey demands to be scratched and brushed by every person who enters the ranch. In fact, he is so gentle we can measure him without having to run him through the chute. Smokey won Grand Champion Miniature Texas Longhorn Bull at the 2012 TLBAA Horn Showcase "Total Package Miniature Photo Show"

Smokey is currently on loan to a ranch in New Mexico.

Photo Date: 2/15/2013 (left) & September 2013 (right)

Date Calved: 7/16/2010

Sire: Micro Chip

Dam: Daisy Mae

Frame Score: 0

Smokin' Ace was purchased from Bogle Farms in Sorrento Florida. He arrived at the V3C on 4/15/2011 after a very long journey. His first day on the ranch he was introduced to the halter and has been progressing quite nicely (far better than we would expect after a long week of stress). He will be used to breed the offspring produced by the King of the V3C - Smokehaus. Ace, like Gumdrop, also has a love for shoes and his favorite flavor is Crocs - not the cheap knockoffs - he can tell the difference...

STRAIGHT BUTLER

Photo Date: September 2013

Date Calved: 8/3/2011

Sire: Little Ace Predator

Dam: LAER Roxannon

Frame Score: 1

Tiny Predator is an extremely small framed straight Butler bull. We are extremely fortunate to have acquired this little guy from Kaso Kety with the Little Ace Cattle Company in Folsom, LA. Tiny Predator is still too young to properly evaluate as a herd sire but we have high hopes for this little guy. Our goal is to breed him to our straight Butler cows and heifers to hopefully produce a line of straight Butler Miniature Texas Longhorns!!

Little Bit O' Mojo

TLBAA # B87695

STRAIGHT BUTLER

Photo Date: 1/4/2014

Date Calved: 1/17/2011

Sire:Little Ace Blackjack

Dam:Miss Rocky Denim KMD

Frame Score: 00

Little Bit O' Mojo is out of our best cow - Miss Rocky Denim KMD who stands only 43-inches tall and has over 73-inches of total horn. This bull calf is being retained for our breeding program. At the present time he is less than 30-inches tall and is predicted to mature under 44-inches tall, meaning that he will be one of the smallest Straight Butler bulls in the world! We have high hopes for this little guy.

Photo Date: 1/4/2014

Date Calved: 8/27/2013

Frame Score: 0-00

Willy Wonkey is an adorable little bull calf that at almost 5 months of age is still able to walk under his mother, who is not a large-framed cow. He is a very curious little calf that is still a bit timid but that will change soon. Willy is for sale as either a bull or a steer and will be available in March after he is weaned.

LAER Miss Mudbug (AKA Muddy) is our newest addition to the herd. We have admired her parents for some time and jumped on the opportunity to add their genetics into our herd. Muddy is an adorable little heifer that shadows ACC Unique Diva SWC and shows a tremendous amount of interest in us but has yet to work up thr courage to allow us to touch her. She is coming around and we couldn't be more pleased. We are hoping that she will produce a calf or calves that have the unique coloration of her mother.

She is one of our friendliest heifers who loves everyone and has no fear of anything. She has a very similar personality to her mother and we absolutely adore her!

Frame Score: 4

Becky is a gorgeous straight Butler cow. She is one of the biggest girls at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company. However, she has the disposition, horn, color and conformation that we would like to see down-sized in the miniatures. Hopefully, she will produce some heifer calves with Smokehaus that can then be bred to Smokin' Ace for additional down-sizing.

Becky was purchased from David Robinson in Medina, TX. The Robinson family was so enjoyable that we did not want to leave their ranch.

Big Momma Cass is the lead cow on the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company. She is one of our friendliest cows who absolutely adores getting all of the attention. On 12/17/2011 she gave birth to an absolutely gorgeous little heifer calf that we have named V3C Smokin' Daybreak (AKA Daisy). Daisy will be retained for our breeding program and is not for sale.

Date Calved: 9/13/2007

Sire: Apparent Star (Vida Nueva Ranch)

Dam: ER Princess Rosie (Vida Nueva Ranch)

Frame Score: 2

Flirtin' Cowgirl is perhaps our best acquisition. She is a straight Butler cow that is absolutely awesome in every way. Although little Flirt is one inch taller than the maximum height for a Miniature Texas Longhorn, she will certainly produce the types of calves that we want to be known for here at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company!! Sadly, she tipped her right horn and broke off several inches but regardless we think she is gorgeous.

Flirt was purchased from Vida Nueva Ranch outside of Somerville, TX. The Faske family is a true inspiration and if you are ever in the area, please look them up and pay them a visit. One hour on their ranch with their incredible family will change your life forever!!

Rocky Denim is what we at the Vertically Challenged Cattle Company consider to be the ideal Miniature Texas Longhorn! She will literally stop traffic when people see her out in the pasture. Without having any sort of vertical scale even the most knowledgeable Texas Longhorn breeders would not guess that she is so petite. This is what we are shooting for in our breeding program and are extremely fortunate to have been able to acquire her from the Kety-McLeod-Doyle Partnership!!

Frame Score: 00

Gumdrop is one of our smallest cows. She has the total package: small physical body size, color, conformation, disposition and horn. This little girl is exactly what Miniature Texas Longhorn breeders have been trying to create. She is absolutely the most gorgeous cow you will ever see. Gummy does have a strange shoe fetish, so if you don't want your shoes to be licked - stay away from this little girl when you come to visit.

Gummy calved on Memorial Day 2011 (5/30/2011). She gave birth to V3C Smokin' Lady Liberty (Libby for short) a gorgeous Miniature Texas Longhorn Heifer. Libby is going to be retained for our breeding program.

BLENDED

Photo Date: 12/15/2012

Date Calved: 4/15/2009

Sire: Micro Casper

Dam: Wanda May

Frame Score: 1

Sandy Kay is perhaps our favorite heifer due to her personality. She was the first of our heifers to allow us to pet, scratch and brush them. She is so friendly that when we scratch her when she is lying down, she will kick a leg up in the air so we can scratch the inside of her leg and rub her hooves. The interesting thing is that she is the most timid around the other cows - always yielding to them at the feed trough. Sandy has proven to be an excellent mother and milker!!

Frame Score: 3

585 Back 40 (AKA Little 40) was purchased at the 2012 TLBAA Premier Heifer Sale from Ron and Kevin Asbill of the well known 585 Ranch. Her sire is a multiple Horn Showcase Campion and is absolutely awesome with over 100 inches of total horn!! We are extremely excited to have her in our herd. She is an extremely calm heifer that is already eating out of our hands a mere week after she was hauled down to our ranch from Fort Worth by our good friend Felix Serna of the Legendary El Coyote Ranch. We are hopeful that in the very near future we will have her tamed down to the point where we can brush her. Our only concern is that she may put on so much horn that the poor little girl will topple over...

Kosmos is "the baby" of the V3C. We have bottle raised this calf since he was two weeks old. Kosmos is so people oriented that he will even walk up the stairs to the house and would occasionally sleep inside when the mosquitoes got to bad when he was younger. Sadly, he still wants to come in the house and occasionally when we come home from work we find him sleeping on the front deck to the house; this is a problem because he is afraid to walk back down the steps. Eventually, we plan to saddle train Kazi so that children can ride him.

Lighthaus (AKA Haus) was purchased when he was a little over two months old. We bottle raised him and plan to train him to be a riding steer. Haus is a large bodied standard-sized Texas Longhorn and will be used as a vertical scale out in the pasture. When people come to see the minis, they will be able to truly appreciate how small these animals are when compared to a full-sized steer. His name should be quite fitting once he matures because we plan to look for the Lighthaus out in the pasture when we are trying to locate our herd of minis.

Sampson (AKA Sam)

Unregistered Brangus

Photo Date: 3/11/2012 (Top) 8/30/2011 (Bottom)

Date Calved: 2/2011

Sampson belonged to one of our absentee neighbors. His mother was hit and killed on our county road when he was less than three months old. After loosing his mother he survived on his own for over three months. We attempted countless times to communicate with our neighbor because we were concerned about this little calf. One day we found him lying along the fence and when we approached he got up, took two steps and fell over because he was so weak. We went back to the ranch and got the frontend loader and hauled him back to our barn. Sam was so thin that you could see every bone in his body and his mounth was completely filled with cactus spines because apparently there had been no free water on the ranch in over a month. Apparently, all the cattle were getting their water from cactus, which is hard to beleive because at the time we had over sixty straight days of temperatures over 100 degrees! We immediately put little Sam on IV fluids and stabilized him. After a week of hospitalization on our ranch, he began eating on his own. After we knew he would survive, we contacted the neighbor to let them know what the cost of the medical care was and they decided to "give him to us as payment." Sam is now a very healthy and happy little steer that is best buddies with V3C Smokin' Daybreak (AKA Daisy). He is obviously nutritionally stunted but fits in well with our mini Texas Longhorns (other than the fact that he doesn't have any horns...)

Jacko is an absolutely adorable bottle baby that was delivered via C-Section on Haloween. His mother developed a horrible infection following the C-Section and had to be euthanized. Little Jacko is as friendly as a puppy and follows us all over the ranch and even comes to his name!
